Conservation
Finance Guide
Prior to the creation of the actual Conservation Finance Alliance,
many of the same organizations that attended the February 2002 retreat
collaborated in the fall of 2001 to produce the CD
Conservation Finance
Guide. The Guide is designed
to help expand the use of
sustainable
finance
mechanisms to
support the conservation
of biological diversity. It covers a broad cross section of finance mechanisms (e.g., conservation trust funds, tourism user fees, debt-for-nature
swaps, the GEF, bilateral donor agencies, etc.) and contains highly practical,
user-friendly tools to support the use of these mechanisms. We are pleased to be able to offer the
full
contents of the CD online. We also have the full Guide available in
French, and certain chapters
available in Spanish and one
chapter available in
Russian!

related to the sustainable utilization of the biological and/or water resource
base. IFS is specifically targeting scientists in countries with developing
science and technology
infrastructures. Research grants are awarded up to a maximum value of US$12,000
for a period of one to three years and may be renewed twice. They are intended
for the purchase of equipment, expendable supplies, and literature. Deadlines

The Wildlife
Conservation Society sponsors a Research Fellowship Program (RFP), a
small grants program designed to support individual field research projects that
lead directly to the conservation of threatened wildlife and wildlife habitat
and that are based on sound and innovative conservation science. In addition,
the RFP aims to build
capacity for the next generation of
conservationists. The upcoming deadline is March 1. Read more about the program
