The CFA and WCS supported the first preliminary meeting of an Asian-Pacific Network of Conservation Trust Funds and Environmental Funds, which took place on Sunday, November 16th, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm and was organized by KEHATI Foundation (Indonesia), Arannayk Foundation (Bangladesh) and Micronesia Conservation Trust (Micronesia).
The main goal behind this initiative was to discuss the creation of a network among the Conservation Trust Funds and Environmental Funds in the Asia, Pacific and Oceania region, in order to foster communication, knowledge sharing and learning among the funds within this region.
The agenda covered mainly the initial steps towards forming a network, by identifying and discussing the key issues, goals and challenges, learning from the experiences of RedLAC, CAFÉ and the CFA, understanding the perspective of donors and other stakeholders, and formulating a plan for next steps.
Almost 20 funds from the Asia-Pacific, African and Latin American and the Caribbean regions participated in this event. Some key CFA partners, such as the GEF, CI and KfW also engaged in the discussions.
