The 4th edition of the CFA Global Meeting happened during IUCN’s World Parks Congress, in Sydney, Australia, on Thursday, November 13th, at 12:00 pm and on Wednesday, November 19th at the same time.
In our first encounter (entitled "Meet the CFA", on the 13th), the Executive Committee members presented the network - its history and purpose - and shared their experiences with our Working Groups (WG) for the past few years with the audience.
Andrew Bovarnick (UNDP) introduced the latest developments of the Protected Areas Financing WG, including its new role as a specialized group within WCPA; Ray Victurine (WCS) talked about the Innovative Finance Mechanisms WG and its concern in pursuing the linkage between business and conservation; and Lorenzo Rosenzweig (FMCN) presented the Environmental Funds WG, highlighting the relevance of CFA's latest publications to be released on November 17th concerning CTFs.
After these brief talks, Sylvie Goyet (FIBA) introduced the Conservation Finance Journey, a guide elaborated by the CFA to help participants identifying sessions and events related to conservation finance themes, since those were addressed across several different streams, sessions and events at the WPC.
On November 19th, at the end of the Congress, the members gathered again at the Conservation Finance Pavilion to celebrate the activities carried out by the CFA at the WPC and its outcomes during the event. A delicious meal with some beverages was served at the occasion and members had a great opportunity to share valuable experiences after 8 days immersed in biodiversity conservation discussions.
