The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation have announced its new opportunities for their Environmental Conservation area. Its goal is to balance long-term conservation with sustainable use. They protect critical ecosystems, establish models for collaboration that can be replicated and expanded around the globe and aim to create lasting change in how land, freshwater and coastal marine ecosystems are managed. Check below the details of each position and make sure to apply on their website!

 

Program Associate, Andes-Amazon Initiative (Palo Alto, California)

The Andes-Amazon Initiative’s goal is to conserve the Amazon basin, which provides habitat for biodiversity and  forests that regulate the regional climate cycle. To achieve this goal, the Foundation supports work that addresses the following elements:

-Protected area national and sub-national systems,

-Targeted individual protected areas in selected countries,

-Integration of selected clusters of protected areas (mosaics) into regional economies and development planning.

The Program Associate will provide programmatic support to the Program Director and Program Officers of the Andes-Amazon Initiative.The primary responsibility is to ensure that the systems to manage grants and strategic workflows are implemented efficiently by the AAI team through effective coordination of team processes and activities and project management. In light of the scheduled conclusion of the Andes-Amazon Initiative at the end of 2016, this is a 2-year, limited term position.

The ideal candidate will have:

 - A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proven experience in administration and/or project management.
- Two years’ relevant work experience in environmental conservation preferred.
- Interest in Amazon basin-related social and environmental issues demonstrated through work, extracurricular or volunteer activities.
- Proficient to Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Program Director, Operations, Environmental Conservation Program (ECP), Palo Alto (California)

The Program Director, Operations provides operational, financial, planning, and knowledge management support to the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and the ECP Leadership Team, comprised of the CPO and Program Directors. The Program Director, Operations will report to the CPO, and serve as a member of the ECP Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate will have:

- 10-12 years of experience in a senior-level management position preferred, with responsibility over multi-disciplinary function in organizations and institutions contributing to the development, design, and management of strategies and initiatives to produce significantly improved outcomes. Philanthropic sector experience desirable.

- An advanced degree is strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to target critical business problems and apply appropriate decision making/technology/methodologies.

- Experience with organizational development/change management

- Ability to think/work at scale as well as “work in white space,” create new ideas, strategize with passionate commitment to a successful outcome.

- Extensive project contribution and management experience and an ability to effectively prioritize projects, completing in a timely manner with attention to detail.

- Superior writing and presentation skills with extensive use of visual representations and tools within the Microsoft office suite.
